What is a Session?
While each APA Session—Summer, Fall, and Spring—stands on its own with playoffs and prizes, they also serve as building blocks toward larger yearly goals. Players and teams who stay active across multiple Sessions have more chances to qualify for higher-level events and gain recognition throughout the year.
For example:
Tri-Annual: Teams that perform well in individual Sessions advance to playoffs and Tri-Annuals, which lead to the World Qualifiers and World Pool Championships.
Patches, MVPs, and Division Winners: These honors are awarded to both teams and individuals and are tracked within each session. However, many players strive to earn them multiple times throughout the year.
World Pool Championships: Participation in each Session increases your chances of qualifying for this prestigious annual event, held in Las Vegas each August.
Playing consistently across all Sessions gives you more opportunities to grow your skill level, earn awards, and qualify for major competitions by year’s end.
Summer
April – July, Summer marks the first qualifying session each League Year. The Tri-Annual for Summer Session is usually in the month of August and winning teams must participate in the Fall and Spring Session with at least four of the original teammates that were on the Summer qualifying team
Fall
August – November, The Fall Session is the second of three sessions in the league year. The Tri-Annual is held in December or January and winning teams must participate in the Spring session with at least four of the original teammates that were on the Fall qualifying team.
Spring
December – March, Spring is the third and final Session of the league year. The Tri-Annual is held in April, just before the 8-Ball and 9-Ball World Qualifiers. Team rosters for the World Qualifiers and the World Pool Championships are frozen after the fourth week of the Spring Session. To participate in the World Qualifier and the World Pool Championships, players must remain on an active Summer Session roster in the format for which their team is qualified.
