Play Pool
While the American Poolplayers Association (APA) primarily organizes its leagues on a weekly play schedule, some local organizations (like ours!) offer different frequencies of play.
Weekly Play (3 session / year)
Frequency: Matches are played once a week on a given day and always start at the same time.
Example: Teams compete every Wednesday evening during the APA’s Spring Session.
Benefits: Brings teammates together weekly, which improves team bonding. Consistency of play allows players to improve each week.
- Our Formats: 8-Ball, 9-Ball, and Double Jeopardy
Bi-Weekly Play (3 sessions / year)
Frequency: Matches are played every other week.
Example: Teams play every second and fourth Sunday, offering a more flexible schedule for those who are not available every week.
Benefits: Allows those who may travel for work an opportunity to find a less demanding schedule and play on the weekend.
- Our Formats: 8-Ball and 9-Ball
Monthly Play (one year-long session)
Frequency: Matches are played once a month.
Example: Teams compete on the first Saturday of each month, providing a more relaxed schedule with longer breaks between matches.
Benefits: Suitable for those with limited availability or the desire to pick up an additional team, allowing for a more leisurely pace and less frequent commitment.
- Our Formats: 8-Ball, Ladies League, Destination 8-Ball, Destination 9-Ball, and Masters
The APA primarily operates on a weekly play schedule during its sessions (Summer, Fall, and Spring). However, understanding different play frequencies can help players consider alternative formats that might better suit their needs or preferences.
