Awards & Recognition

Discover how the APA celebrates and rewards individuals and teams with a range of achievements. From individual achievements during a game to winning at the World Pool Chamionships, learn how you can be acknowledged for your skills and achievements.

Team MVP Awards

At the end of each session, APA asks each team to recognize one player on their team as the Most Valuable Player for the session.  The criteria for picking the team’s MVP are up to the team.  The MVP could be awarded to the player with the best winning percentage, the player who showed the most improvement throughout the session, the most reliable player on the team, or even the player who kept score the most often.

Each session, APA will reach out to Team captains to get their team’s MVP for the session. Team nominations are submitted through a Google Form, and the League Office distributes awards.

League Match Awards

Patches
A variety of patches are available for individual and team achievements in league play during each meetup. Patches include: Rackless Match, 8 on the break, 9 on the snap, 9-Ball Shutout, I Beat a 8, or 9 in 9-ball, or I Beat a 6 or 7 in 8-Ball, 8-Ball Break and Run, 9-Ball Break and Run, Mini-Slam, and Grand-Slam. In most cases, patches are distributed by the Division Representative the night you earn them. Some rare patches, such as Mini-Slam and Grand-Slam, are distributed by the League Office.

Division Winner Awards
At the end of each session, teams that have earned the most points are honored with awards. These awards may include plaques, custom t-shirts, or other forms of recognition. Each division’s winner receives these accolades to celebrate their success and outstanding performance throughout the season.

Tri-Annual Tournament
Participation in the Tri-Annual occurs three times a year at the conclusion of each session. Winners of the Tri-Annual tournaments receive an award and move on to the World Qualifier tournament, held annually. We host Tri-Annuals in both 8-Ball and 9-Ball formats.

World Qualifier Tournament
Once a year, we host the World Qualifier Tournament, comprised of the teams who won a Tri-Annual during the year. Teams that win first place in the World Qualifier are provided travel funds to attend the APA World Pool Championship in Las Vegas, usually held in August. We host the World Qualifier for 8-Ball and 9-Ball.

World Pool Championships
Every team that makes it to the World Pool Championships receives a cut of the prize money and a goodie bag that has keepsakes for each player. Annually, the APA distributes nearly $2 million in guaranteed prize money across various tournaments and events. This substantial prize pool underscores the league’s commitment to supporting players and acknowledging the skill and dedication of its members.
