Ever wondered what happens when an object ball gets a little too adventurous and flies off the table? We’ve got the scoop!
🟡 The Basics:
If a ball goes off the playing surface, it gets spotted right back on the foot spot. But what if the foot spot is already taken? No worries! The ball gets placed directly behind the foot spot, as close as possible. And if multiple balls decide to take a dive? They get placed in numerical order—with the lowest numbered ball closest to the foot spot. Oh, and one more thing: spotted balls must be frozen to each other. No personal space here!
🎱 8-Ball Madness:
Imagine this: You legally pocket a ball, but at the same time, another ball (or maybe even a few) flies off the table. What happens? It’s still your turn! But here’s the catch—the rogue ball(s) won’t be spotted until your turn ends. If one of those floor-bound balls happens to be yours, it only gets spotted once you’ve pocketed all your other balls. And if it’s the 8-ball that goes airborne… well, bad news—you lose the game. 😱
🔵 9-Ball Shenanigans:
In 9-ball, any ball that gets knocked off the table will be immediately spotted on the foot spot. But the 9-ball has its own special rules:
- If the 9-ball gets knocked off the table (but isn’t pocketed), it’s spotted.
- If it’s pocketed but the shooter scratches or fouls, it’s spotted again.
So, keep your cool and keep those balls on the table!
