The Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill APA has 16 BYEs in the 2012 Summer Session that we want to fill.  To try to get these BYEs filled, APA is offering the session FREE for any team that fills one of the BYEs listed below!  That is an entire session FREE!  Here are the current formats, nights of play, & host locations where BYEs exist:

**Moving your team from a current division to a division to fill a BYE is not allowed. This incentive is only applicable for teams created to fill the BYE. 
**Teams may still owe applicable "greens fees" to the host location. That is at the discretion of each host location. 
**If your team played the previous session and did not sign back up for Summer Session, you are not eligible to receive this incentive (team from prior session is defined as consisting of 4 or more of the same players). 
**If you created a team to fill a BYE the previous session, that team must still be active for you to be eligible to receive the BYE fill promotion again this session. 
**To prevent abuse of this incentive, APA has the right to deny the incentive if deemed necessary. 

Okay......all of the teams that won in the Best Of The Rest tournament have been added into the tournament bracket and onto the first round assignments sheets.

The fun starts Friday night, so make sure to be there on time and have your team certification form completed and turned in by 7:15pm at the latest.  If you don't play until Saturday morning, you need to be there with a completed form by 9:15am!!

FYI, I had to retype the entire tournament board and repost a new bracket because it was accidentally put onto a bracket meant for singles tournaments, not team tournaments. Therefore, if you printed out the bracket previously, you might want to print a new copy. This does not affect who you play in the first round or the time of your first match.  It only affects where teams go in the bracket if they lose in matches starting with match #25.  Sorry for any confusion.

There are two division reps for Bar Wars (Adrian Warden and Jeff Howell), so most of the time one of the two should be in the location where you are playing.  However, if there is a not a DR in your location on the night of play, see the DR on the night of your weekly league play for your patch/coupon.  If you are turning in a coupon, just make sure to note it was for Bar Wars so that it can be verified as valid.

But wait, there’s more!  ;-)   We have one thing the other league nights DON’T have:

BIKINI MONDAYS!!!   That's right!  Their sweet & beautiful bartender, Ashley, pours your drinks while wearing a bikini!  ;-)

The Format is Double Jeopardy (8 & 9) and ALL skill levels are needed.  There are plenty of spaces to fill so bring your friends, family, or anyone else you can think of!!

The Best of the Rest will start at 11:00am on Saturday, May 12th at Brown's Billiards. All 8-Ball & 9-Ball teams need to report to the tournament site at least 15 minutes prior to your first round assignments.  Round times are estimates and may run a little later due to the availability of table and completion of earlier matches.  Click HERE to see your first assigned round time. 

8-Ball:
There are a total of 22 teams playing in the Best of the Rest for 8-ball and 4 will qualify for the 8-Ball City Tournament. Here is the tournament board: 8-Ball Best of the Rest. 

9-Ball:
There are a total of 16 teams playing in the Best of the Rest for 9-ball and 5 teams will qualify for the 9-Ball City Tournament. Here is the tournament board: 9-Ball Best of the Rest. 

The requirements for a player to participate in this tournament are the same as for regular session playoffs. Established players need 6 matches and new players need 8 matches. No exceptions!!! Best of the Rest matches CAN count towards a new players required 10 scores to be eligible for City Tournament play. In addition, any player owing past due money will be ineligible unless the past due balance is paid. This applies to any team past due balances as well.

 

Tournament Structure: 

• Single Elimination team tournament with modified races
• Team race is the best out of 3 (first team to 2) in 8-Ball and a race to 31 points or 30 points and 2 wins in 9-Ball
• Since the team race is modified, the team skill level limit for 3 matches is 14 instead of 23.
• No cash payout - qualifying tournament only
• APA will qualify 1/4 of the field (maximum of 4 teams) for the city tournament via the "Best Of The Rest" tournament in both 8-Ball and 9-Ball (more than 4 teams are subject to qualify depending on availability of slots for the city tournament)

<div>Our final event of the 2011/2012 season was held this past Saturday at On the Snap.  We had 11 participants this time.  11???????  I KNOW we can do better than that.  I realize that there was a lot going on this weekend, but that turnout is pathetic and hardly worth the effort.  We are going to change some things up next year to try to get more participation.  Details will come out later.</div>

<div>We had fun door prizes, "guess the candy in the jar", GREAT raffle prizes and some wonderful brownies!  We even got the cook to fry some of the brownies in batter...wow - if you didn't stay, you missed a treat!!!!!  On the Snap had some great drink specials and Cinco de Mayo giveaways.</div>

<div>The $50 "Buck's" break contest was won by Teri Nearing - congrats - first time ever!  I will try to attach the points standings, but if it doesn't work, they are posted on the APA website on the Ladies' Tour forum page - hopefully I can get THAT to work.</div>

<div>We raised $125 from entry fees, $10 from break contest, $190 from the raffle, $90 personal donations - thanks so much fto those that gave and gave back! - and $35 from pink merchandise sales.  A total of $450.00 will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.  This is a great total for as few people as we had there.  Thanks to you all.</div>
