APA USSF Tour What is the USSF Tour you ask with baited breath? It stands for the Under Seven Split Field Tour. That's right! No seven's allowed!
Now hold on you low handicaps - don't go running away just yet! We have incentives for you as well!
The USSF Tour is composed of a dual bracket system, or split field as the name implies. It has a 6 & Under bracket, along with a 4 & Under bracket. All handicaps 6 and under are invited to play in the top bracket, but only those 4 or less are able to play in the lower bracket. As a low handicap player, you have the option to size up your competition and choose your bracket at the time you pay your entry fee.
For all of those players who screamed about the bags of sand that might have been trying to infiltrate the 5 & Under Tour, AND for those highly skilled 5's that complained about becoming 6's during the Tour - this Tour is the perfect match for all of you!
The rules have changed! It's a brand new tour, how can the rules have changed? Simple - we are adopting most of this tour's rules from the highly successful 5 & Under Tour that is being replaced by this more spectacular Tour.
Tour Cards - will be $30. Tour cards will gain you discounts at area pool halls and other vendors in the area. Tour cards will not be required to play in the final championships. Tour Card owners will also have a reduced entry fee to each USSF Tour event. Ladies that are current members of the "Save the Ta-Tas" Tour, are eligible for a $10 discount on your USSF Tour Card. Also, Tour cards will be distributed at the time of payment or earning. No more delays in having to wait for them.
Entry Fees - $35 for non-Tour Card holders. $25 for anyone with a USSF Tour Card. Any player that plays in 3 events automatically earns a Tour Card (you will have paid an extra $10 at each of the 3 events = $30 Tour Card, ladies tour discounts would apply after 2 events)
Tour Events - are open to any and all APA handicapped players who meet the 6 & Under requirements. Events will be held about every 6-7 weeks. You do not need to "join" the tour to play in an event, unlike the common misconception of the 5 & Under Tour. Do not be scared by the word Tour - we don't bite...well most of us at least.
Points - Participating in each event will net you a base amount of points just for showing up. The higher you place in the event, the more points you get. At the end of the 8th and Final Championship event, the top point winners will be rewarded! You are under no obligation to race for the points. As long as you compete in an event, your points will be calculated for you automatically. If you do choose to go after the points race - make sure you attend the Double Points events!
Number of Events - 9 Tournaments in total, including the Championship. Events #2, 4, 6 and the Championship will all be worth Double Points! That's right - 4 Double Points Opportunities this time!!
Tour Championship - worth Double Points. All players that have played in at least 1 Tour event, are current APA members, and still meet the 6 & under handicap requirements will be invited to play! There will be $350 added instead of $250 by the usual methods, along with all of the money added from previous events. For anyone that goes up to a 7 at the time of the championship, you will not be allowed to play...period. There are no exceptions, sorry. Your points will still ride for the points race as you would have earned them as an eligible handicap.
Prize Money - Every event will have at least $250 added to the event. A minimum of $150 donated by the host location, and $100 donated by the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill APA. Portions of the sales from each of the Tour Cards, and each event entry fee will pay out the top point winners, and the rest being added to the Final Championship.
Handicaps - your handicap for each event will be determined by the handicap you played in league the week before each event. Come prepared by knowing your current handicap. For those sneaky 7's or those players that think they can bend the rules - if you are caught cheating in regards to your handicap, you will be kicked out of the event, and permanently banned from all future USSF Tour events. There will be zero tolerance for anyone trying to play under their established handicap. In order to have an eligible handicap for this tour you must:
1) Have an established APA handicap of 6 or less (meaning you must have at least 10 or more 8-ball matches in the APA system) 2) Be ACTIVE on a current 8-ball roster.
Ethan is working with the APA with regards to the tour and will be able to verify whether a player is active on a roster and their correct handicap the day of the tournament.
Please contact the Tour Director, Ethan Ekkens if you have any questions. 919-669-7226 2008-2009 APA USSF (Under Seven Split Field) Tour InformationDates & Locations: - August 2, 2008 - Brown's Billiards
