....Everyone Plays Pool In The APA....
Talk to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers. You'll find that they either play in the APA or know someone who does. It'll surprise you! Clerks, secretaries, janitors, lawyers, chiropractors, doctors, waitresses, truck drivers, bank tellers, and even school teachers ... all play pool in the APA Pool League. Over one fourth of APA members are female.
The APA is the World's Largest Amateur Pool League with more members than all other amateur leagues combined. Nationally, the APA currently boasts over 250,000 members (and growing). At the end of 2008, over 2,300 members played on 440+ teams weekly in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area of the APA.
For those of you that might be thinking: "I'm not good enough to play", consider this; 75% of APA members are beginner to intermediate players, meaning you don't have to be a Pool Pro to play. The only thing you really need, is the desire to have fun!

| INTRODUCING THE NEW MEN'S DIVISION!!!! | 07/01/2009 1:15:14 PM |
2009-2010 APA Mens Division You have asked why the Ladies get their own division that you aren't allowed to play in. You have stated that it is sexist and unfair. You have asked how come the men can't have their own league. Well, ask and ye shall receive! The Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill APA is proud to present the 2009-2010 APA Mens Division!!
So, what is the APA Men's Division? It is an 8-Ball League that is set up like the Ladies Division with once a month play and better odds of getting to Vegas! The Men's Division plays once a month on Sunday afternoon (double matches) at 1:00pm. Play lasts for 11 months and the City Tournament occurs in the 12th month (June). The division is a travel division, so each month the entire division will travel to different host locations to compete (the division will be split between two or three host locations dependent on size). The Men's Division will follow the 23-Rule. Oh, and NO ladies allowed !
As long as the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill APA has 25 teams competing in the APA Men's Division, one team will win a slot into the Open Division National Team Champioships in Las Vegas!! That is a 1:25 chance of making it to Vegas! The APA Men's Division is scheduled to start on July 19, 2009. Start sending in the registrations (28 team maximum, first come-basis)!!!
Come join the men for a "macho" day of pool in the 2009-2010 APA Men's Division!! |

| NEW FORMAT FOR LADIES DIVISION!!! | 06/18/2009 8:28:19 PM |
 2009-2010 APA Ladies Division
Okay ladies....we made some changes to the 2008-2009 year that made playing Ladies Division more enjoyable. We played every other week instead of every week making Ladies Division less of a weekend commitment, while keeping the same great odds of getting to Vegas.
Well, we are looking at changing the format a little more for the 2009-2010 APA League Year. Instead of playing every other week for a 6-month period, the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill APA is proposing that the Ladies Division plays once a month for 11 months, with the Ladies Division City Tournament in June (the month the regular session is not scheduled to play). Thus, you can play ladies division and only have to commit one Sunday a month to do so. It will still be double matches like played in the 2008-2009 League Year.
APA had another idea for the 2009-2010 Ladies Division as well....have the entire division play in the same host location each month, changing host locations month to month (if team count allows and host locations are on board). By doing so, all the Ladies teams are in one location each month for league versus being spread out in 4 or 5 bars across the Triangle. APA feels this would make the Ladies Division a more exciting league promoting friendship and socialization among the league's female players.
Nothing is set in stone yet, so APA would love the feedback of its current Ladies Division players and other female players that might be interested in playing. If we adopt the once a month format, the 2009-2010 Ladies Division would start in the month of July. So let us know what you think and start sending in your team rosters!!!! Update - 6/18/2009: We are going to do the once a month schedule and our first day of play is on July 19, 2009 @ 1:00pm with the starting location(s) yet to be determined. We should have enough teams to hopefully get two slots to the Ladies NTC's in Vegas in 2010. Leave the boys at home and join the APA Ladies Division!!! |
