Singles Qualifiers - Sunday of 9-Ball Cities

APA will be holding Singles Qualifiers on Sunday, May 20th at Buck's Billiards during the 9-Ball City Tournament.
This is the qualifying window for Singles Regionals that will be held in October of 2012 and have the chance to earn a spot in the APA National Singles Championships to be held in April 2013. Don't miss out on your chance to qualify and play for $10,000-$15,000 as a Single Player in Las Vegas!!! The qualifying window for the October 2012 regional closes on June 15th, so don't miss out on your chance to qualify!!

When: May 20, 2012
Where: Buck's Billiards
Start Time: 4:00pm 
Registration: Over the course of the weekend, ending at 3:30 pm on Sunday.
Cost: $15 entry

8-Ball Scotch Doubles Vegas Qualifier

Format: 8-Ball
Start Time:11:00am
Entry Fee: $50.00
Maximum Combined S/L: 10

We have one more slot for the 8-Ball Doubles Championship that has yet to be claimed. This tournament will be qualifying ONE team for the 8-Ball Doubles Championships in Las Vegas in August of 2012. Players must be active on an 8-ball roster and have at least twenty (20) 8-ball scores to be eligible to participate in this tournament. If a team's combined skill level increases above 10 prior to the tournament date, both team members must find new partners to return their combined skill level back to 10 (or the players can choose not to participate without penalty).

Registration window closes on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 @ 12:00 noon. Late registrations will NOT be accepted!  Dependent on the numbers of entries, tournament may run into Sunday. All registered teams must be at the tournament site no later than 10:45am on the day of the tournament or the team will lose their slot in the tournament.

Note: Any team registered for the tournament that does not show up will still owe the entry fee, unless APA is notified 24 hours prior to the start of the event.

The Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill APA has 16 BYEs in the 2012 Summer Session that we want to fill.  To try to get these BYEs filled, APA is offering the session FREE for any team that fills one of the BYEs listed below!  That is an entire session FREE!  Here are the current formats, nights of play, & host locations where BYEs exist:

**Moving your team from a current division to a division to fill a BYE is not allowed. This incentive is only applicable for teams created to fill the BYE. 
**Teams may still owe applicable "greens fees" to the host location. That is at the discretion of each host location. 
**If your team played the previous session and did not sign back up for Summer Session, you are not eligible to receive this incentive (team from prior session is defined as consisting of 4 or more of the same players). 
**If you created a team to fill a BYE the previous session, that team must still be active for you to be eligible to receive the BYE fill promotion again this session. 
**To prevent abuse of this incentive, APA has the right to deny the incentive if deemed necessary. 

2012 Spring Session 9-Ball City Tournament

The 2012 Spring Session 9-Ball City Tournament is scheduled for May 18-21, 2012 at Buck's Billiards. The tournament consists of 50 teams and is Modified Single Elimination. THREE teams will be qualifying for the National Team Championships in Las Vegas in August of 2012!!  Here is a list of the teams that are qualified and when their first match is scheduled: First Round Assignments.

Teams should be at the tournament location no later than 7:15 on Friday night or 9:15am on Saturday morning, whichever is your first scheduled match.  A team captain's meeting will be held at 7:30 on Friday night and 9:30am on Saturday morning.  Team Captains must turn in their "Team Certification Form" no later than 7:15pm on Friday or 9:15am on Saturday  (dependent upon when your first match is scheduled)......so get the signatures of your team members prior to the first round of play.  Any player not signing the "Teams Certification Form" prior to the start of the tournament will be ineligible to participate in the entire tournament.  Print off your "Team Certification Form" here and bring it with you:  Team Certification Form.

**Only players from your Spring Session roster (with the required number of matches) are eligible to play in this tournament, as it is a Spring Session City Tournament. No exceptions!!**
 

Summer Session APA Bar Wars - Build your team now!

Have you ever wondered what bar is the best when it comes to APA league?  Yeah, you get to see teams from other bars at city tournaments, but that is only once a session. However, that all changed with APA BAR WARS!  Build your team now for a chance to win the coveted APA BAR WARS trophy and an additional opportunity to qualify for the APA City Tournament!! What is APA BAR WARS?  This is your chance to see who is the best when you are competing with other bars across our local APA area. 

When: Every other Friday 

Start Date: May 11, 2012
Time: 7:00pm
Where: Travel (you are at your home location when you are the home team
and at your opponent's location when you are the visiting team)
Format: 8-Ball (regular Open format); double matches

Roster: 8-person roster

Skill Level: Using the 23-rule
Cost: $20 per team match (1/2 price)

In addition to having the opportunity to play new blood and represent your bar in APA BAR WARS, the top two (2) finishing teams will qualify directly to the city tournament from division play without having to participate in playoffs. The remaining teams will play in a one week playoff with all the winners advancing to the City Tournament.  The teams losing in playoffs are eligible to partipate in the APA Best of the Rest Tournament to gain a spot in the City Tournament.

2012 Summer Session Data Updated on Website!!
  

The 2012 Summer Session starts this week, the week of May 6, 2012. Divisions and rosters have been updated and the website is now displaying all information for the 2012 Summer Session.  In addition, the updated APA Local By-Laws have been added to the website.  Click HERE to see the updated by-laws.

2012 Spring Session Top Gun Lists!!

We are closing out our 2012 Spring Session and about to kick off a new session which means.......time for the Top Gun lists! The FINAL Top Gun Lists for the 2012 Spring Session are now posted. The lists are located on the Top Gun Standings page under the Local Awards/Recognitions link on the left side of the website. You can also click here to access this page: Top Gun Standings.

The 8-Ball Top Gun Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Snookers & On The Snap and the 9-Ball Top Gun Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, July 15, 2012 at High House Billiards. Start times & locations for each tier are located on the bottom of each Top Gun List. If you made the list, please register for the tournament bracket in which you qualified using the online Tournament Registration feature. Here is the link: Tournament Registration. 2012 US Amateur Championships - Registration Open!

PRESTIGE | SKILL | DETERMINATION | ENDURANCE 

The U.S. Amateur Championship is the nation's most prestigious amateur event, created to showcase only the very best players. This year marks the 19th Anniversary of this highly competitive event which will once again feature both a Mens Division and a Womens Division.

Preliminary Rounds will be held across the country, September 21-23, with the winner advancing to the Championship Rounds, November 9-11, in Tampa, FL. One of the Preliminary Round locations is going to be at Brass Tap & Billiards in Raleigh, NC (September 22-23), so you don't have to travel far to participate!!!

Entries must be postmarked by June 15th. Entry forms can also be found at all of our local APA host locations (starting the April 6th)!! The entry fee is only $40 for APA members.
